What We Believe...
At Berean Baptist Family Fellowship we believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original texts, and is the supreme authority for Christian faith and living (II Tim. 3:16-17 ; II Pet. 1:20-21).
God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and has revealed Himself to be perfect in love,
righteous in all His ways, and creator of all things. (Deut. 6:4 ; I Tim. 1:17; Matt. 28:19; Jn. 4:24; Col. 1:16-17).
Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son. As true God and true man, He was born of a virgin, taught men how to live through His sinless life, was crucified as a sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the dead, and returned to heaven to prepare a place for us. (Phil. 2:5-11; Lk. 1:35; Jn. 1:1-4,14; I Pet. 2:21-25; Titus 2:13-14).
Men and women are sinners by nature and by choice, and are therefore under condemnation. Through repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven of our sins, reborn by the Holy Spirit, and we become children of God (Rom. 3:23; Rom. 5:8-12; Rom. 6:23; Eph. 2:8-9 ; Jn. 1:12).
The Holy Spirit persuades us to repent of our sins and confess Jesus as Lord. He lives in us, teaches us, and empowers us to live godly lives for Christ (Rom. 8:1-14; Jn. 16:7-14; Eph. 5:17-21).
The Church is the living body of Christ on earth. He is its Head and the source of its life. The local body is comprised of those who have received Christ as Savior and Lord and have publicly confessed Christ through baptism. The church exists to celebrate the life of Christ, cultivate personal growth in Christ, care about one another in Christ, and communicate Christ to the world. (Col. 1:18; Eph. 1:22-23; Eph. 2:19-22; Rom. 12:5; Acts 2:41-42; Eph. 4:11-12; Matt. 28:20; Acts 1:8).
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the triune God. The Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ in remembrance of His death and our life in Him. These two ordinances are to be observed by the church until the return of Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:41-42 ; Rom. 6:1-11; I Cor. 11:23-29).
